Michael Wayne Smith

Everyone has a destiny. Everyone has a calling. From a very young age, Michael Wayne Smith knew what he was destined to do. Michael is a Christian singer / songwriter from Oak Ridge, TN and for the last few years has primarily been known in the gospel music industry for his songwriting efforts. Most notably, the song “My Home”,
 recorded by the group Heirline, was a number one song at many radio stations across
the country in 2005 and now has become a standard in many churches today.


Although he has been singing and writing songs for years, it wasn’t until February 2008, that Michael fully surrendered to the Lord by accepting the call to begin traveling across the country and sharing the music God has placed in his heart.
With his family by his side, they have seen the ministry grow and have seen the favor of the Lord because of their obedience.
In October 2008, Michael released his first major recording,
Welcome Home, through Church House Music. A few months later, he released his first
radio single, “The Reason That I Sing”. This song is Michael’s theme song and he sings it everywhere he goes.
The latest single, “Everything’s Fine”, is currently receiving overwhelming response across the country.
Michael says the reason the song is doing so well is because everyone can relate to it. Everyone gets bad
news from time to time; everyone eventually faces a problem they simply can’t overcome by themselves.
And, it’s only through Christ that our problems can be challenged and we can have victory.
The song also shows the listener how important it is to have Christian
brothers and sisters to help bear each others burdens.
Michael and his wife, Kelley, have been married for 17 years and have two daughters, Kerri and Kasey.
They have seen both good and bad times in their life together. Through each challenge,
whether it was Michael’s job loss in 2004 or the time they almost lost Kasey at birth, they have always
trusted God and seen His mercy and grace. 
Many of Michael’s songs are products of life experiences that
God has allowed to come into his life.
